Catalan is the official language, but Spanish, French, and Portuguese are also widely spoken due to immigration. English is well understood in tourist areas, hotels, and ski resorts. Learning a few local phrases is appreciated — try ‘Bon dia’ (Good morning), ‘Gràcies’ (Thank you), and ‘On és...?’ (Where is...?).
