Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras

About

One of the world’s greatest LGBTQ+ celebrations, held annually in late February–early March in Sydney. The iconic Saturday night parade through Oxford Street draws 12,000+ participants in extraordinary costumes and floats watched by 300,000 spectators lining the route. The festival spans three weeks of events — parties, art exhibitions, theatre, sports, and community events — celebrating LGBTQ+ culture and identity. Sydney’s Mardi Gras has been a defining event of Australian cultural life since 1978.
