Bahrain National Day (December 16–17)

Bahrain’s most important public holiday — celebrating independence from British protectorate status on December 16, 1971, followed by National Day on December 17. The two days are marked by spectacular fireworks over Manama Bay, military parades, public concerts, traditional folk performances, illuminated boats on the water, and a national atmosphere of celebration and pride. Buildings across Manama are decorated in Bahraini red and white, and the waterfront along the Corniche fills with families watching the firework displays over the skyline.
