Small, golden, deep-fried dough balls drizzled with thyme honey and sprinkled with cinnamon — Cyprus’s most beloved sweet street food. Sold at panegyria (village festivals), church fairs, and specialist shops across the island. Crispy on the outside and pillow-soft inside, they are best eaten immediately, straight from the fryer. Also associated with Kataklysmos (the Flood Festival), where they’re sold on every seafront.
