Zivania (Cypriot Spirit)

Cyprus’s traditional spirit — a clear, potent pomace brandy distilled from grape skins and stems left after winemaking, typically 45–55% alcohol. Zivania has been produced in Cyprus for over 600 years and carries EU Protected Designation of Origin status. It’s drunk ice-cold in small glasses as a welcome drink, digestive, or remedy (villagers also use it medicinally for muscle aches). Never refuse a Cypriot’s offer of zivania.
