Moravian Wine

About

Moravia in the southeastern Czech Republic is a serious wine country — producing 96% of all Czech wine. Rolling vineyard-covered hills around Znojmo, Mikulov, Velké Pavlovice, and Uherské Hradiště yield excellent Welschriesling, Müller-Thurgau, Palava, and Frankovka (Blaufränkisch). The Moravian wine routes (vinařské stezky) offer 1,200 km of cycling paths connecting dozens of wine villages. Spring wine tastings (košty) in village wine cellars are a highlight of the Moravian calendar.
