Baltic Berries & Wild Harvests

About

Estonia's forests and bogs are a forager's paradise — blueberries, lingonberries, cranberries, cloudberries, and chanterelle mushrooms grow in abundance from July through September. Picking berries is a national pastime and a deeply meditative activity — Estonians consider it a form of freedom and therapy. Markets in late summer overflow with fresh and preserved berries used in jams, juices, pies, and desserts. Cloudberries from the bogs are the rarest and most prized — tart, golden, and extraordinary.
