Venetian Cicchetti

Venice's answer to tapas — small bites served in bacari (traditional wine bars) along with an ombra (small glass of wine). Typical cicchetti include baccalà mantecato (creamed salt cod on bread), sarde in saor (sweet-sour sardines), and polpette (meatballs). Best experienced in the Cannaregio and San Polo neighbourhoods.
