Kotoku-in Great Buddha – Kamakura

Japan’s second-largest bronze Buddha at 11.4 m, cast in 1252 and now seated serenely in the open air after the wooden hall that once sheltered it was swept away by medieval tsunamis. Visitors can enter the hollow statue through vents in its sides.
