Akan National Park

A dramatic Hokkaido park centred on three volcanic caldera lakes — Akan, Mashu, and Kussharo — surrounded by boreal forests and steaming hot springs. Home to the rare marimo (spherical algae balls) in Lake Akan and important indigenous Ainu cultural sites.
