Festa dos Tabuleiros — Tomar

Held every four years in Tomar, this ancient festival is one of Portugal's most spectacular religious events. Young women parade through the city balancing elaborately decorated trays (tabuleiros) stacked with bread and flowers on their heads — structures that can reach 1.5 metres tall. The next edition draws visitors from across the world.
