Vinho Verde

Portugal's most distinctive wine — a light, slightly sparkling white (and increasingly popular rosé) from the Minho region in the northwest. 'Verde' (green) refers to youth rather than colour. Refreshing, low in alcohol (8.5–11%), and naturally effervescent, it's the perfect partner for seafood and warm summer evenings. The Alvarinho grape variety produces the finest examples.
