No. Since February 2022, Ukraine has been in a state of active armed conflict following Russia's full-scale invasion. As of this writing, the US State Department, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and most other governments advise against all travel to Ukraine, including areas far from the front line. This is fundamentally different from normal travel-safety advice for other destinations on this site — the relevant risks are missile and drone strikes, martial law, closed airspace, and land-border restrictions, not petty crime or scams. Under normal, peacetime circumstances, US citizens do not need a visa for stays under 90 days in Ukraine. However, commercial passenger flights to and from Ukrainian airports have been suspended since February 2022 due to closed airspace, and entry is currently governed by wartime conditions, martial law, and border controls rather than standard tourist-visa rules. Under normal conditions, tap water in Ukraine is treated to national standards, though many residents and visitors historically preferred bottled or filtered water because of aging Soviet-era pipe infrastructure in some areas. Water and other utility infrastructure in parts of the country has also been damaged or disrupted by the ongoing conflict, so this may not reflect current conditions everywhere.

Ukrainian is the official language. Russian is also widely spoken, particularly in the east and south, though use of Ukrainian has grown significantly since 2022. English is spoken by many younger people and within the hospitality sector in major cities but is not universal, especially outside Kyiv and Lviv.
