Cambodian Living Arts Festival (Phnom Penh)

Held each November in Phnom Penh, the Cambodian Living Arts Festival celebrates the revival of traditional Khmer performing arts — many of which were nearly destroyed by the Khmer Rouge. Classical Cambodian dance, shadow puppetry (sbek thom — UNESCO-listed), circus arts, traditional music, and contemporary Cambodian theatre are performed across multiple venues in the capital. The festival also supports young Cambodian artists and works to transmit traditional art forms to the next generation.
