Held every June in the small Lapland village of Sodankylä, the Midnight Sun Film Festival is one of the world's most enchanting cinema events. Screenings run 24 hours a day for five days — including outdoor films at 3am under the midnight sun. International directors present their work in conversation with audiences, and the festival has hosted legends including Francis Ford Coppola, Werner Herzog, and Jean-Luc Godard. The combination of Arctic light, intimate village setting, and serious cinema is utterly unique.
