Tap water is generally safe to drink in resort areas and Castries, treated to reasonable standards. That said, many visitors and locals alike prefer bottled or filtered water for taste, especially in more rural parts of the island — it's widely available.

Many restaurants and resorts automatically add a 10% service charge to the bill — check before tipping extra. If no charge is included and service was good, 10% is appropriate. Tour guides and drivers appreciate a few extra dollars for a full-day excursion.
